Notes from our Instructional Coaches

Welcome back everyone!
We hope that you had a wonderful time with family and friends over break. This week we will be continuing with our 12 Strategies of Christmas Challenge. Please keep in mind that all of the strategies described in the past two weeks are still fair game for the challenge. This week we will be focusing on the study guide and the one minute paper.
Option 1:  Students create their own study guide to help them remember key terms and understand main ideas or concepts that have been taught. Provide one of us with a copy of a student-created study guide for a raffle ticket! An alternative is for the teacher to create the study guide and have students complete it as a formative assessment.
Option 2: Allow students the opportunity to reflect on the day’s lesson. This strategy is great for an exit slip and a check for understanding. Have students take one minute to write about the most meaningful part of that day's lesson. You can find an example or template attached. Show us an example of this strategy for a chance to enter in the Christmas raffle.
Feel free to use these strategies as you would like in your own classroom. As always, we are here to help. Please feel free to contact us with any questions. Don't forget to visit the Coaches' Corner in the faculty room.
